Frequently Asked Questions

ARE RESERVATIONS REQUIRED?
Yes and No. It is ALWAYS best to make online reservations, but if you are booking last minute, or having
trouble with online processing, call or text us for assistance. We will do our best to accommodate you.

HOW TO DRESS?
Helen can be very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer, so prepare accordingly. We walk rain or
shine (severe weather excepted), so bring ponchos/umbrellas if weather-appropriate. Comfortable shoes
are also a must.

CANCELLATIONS/CHANGES?
Refunds are available up to 72 hours before your tour. Afterward, we will be happy to reschedule you for
another tour at no cost, but will not issue a refund. Text and email are the best ways to reach us with any
requests to cancel or change your tour.

WHAT ABOUT SEVERE WEATHER?
Storms can be frequent and fleeting in North Georgia, especially in the hot summer months. WE will
decide if the conditions are too severe to walk, and will contact you at the number or email address you
provided at booking. If you think conditions might be severe, contact us as well to confirm the tour is still
on. In the event that WE cancel your tour because of said conditions or other emergency, we will offer a
full refund or reschedule you, whichever you prefer. We will not cancel your tour just for typical rainy
conditions.

HOW DIFFICULT IS THE WALK?
Our tours are approximately 2 hours and 1 3⁄4 to 2 miles over generally smooth, paved and flat terrain.
You don’t have to be an athlete to walk with us, but you should be able to traverse this distance at a
leisurely pace, unless of course a Bigfoot is chasing us, in which case being an Olympic sprinter might
save your life!

WHAT TO EXPECT (DAY WALKS)?
Our Daytime Culture Walks are for all ages and will touch on the history of Helen, but focus on
highlighting many of the fun and interesting things that make Helen unique. We will visit several locations
for demonstrations that may include gem mining, glass-blowing, and free wine, candy and snack
sampling. IF YOU ARE OVER 21 AND WISH TO SAMPLE THE FREE WINES, YOU MUST BRING
YOUR VALID ID.

WHAT TO EXPECT (EVENING WALKS)?
Depending on time of year, we may start/end our walk after dusk, so bring a flashlight or your phone. We
do have some extra flashlights to help highlight the trail as we walk. Our Haunts and History Tour is
intended for adults and older kids, but may not be appropriate for younger kids as the subject matter
includes murders, serial killers, and some occasionally-colorful language. You will learn much about the
dark history of our area as we stroll by haunted locations and weave colorful stories based on historical
research and first-hand accounts. We do not enter any buildings or structures.
